A day at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens

Checking more items off my Maine bucket list this weekend I went to the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. It’s located in Boothbay, ME, and sits on 270 acres of beautiful, tidal shoreland.

Shallow depth of field

Since I wasn’t really up for a hike, but still wanted to be outside for the day this seemed like the perfect compromise. I loved exploring the Chicago Botanical Gardens so I figured the Maine gardens were going to be just as much fun to explore. And they were!

I love walking around outside for hours exploring, and learning new things. Plus it’s an excellent place to practice my photography skills. Other than photographing lighthouses I haven’t had much practice lately.

And wide angle shooting.

Suffice it to say I had a great time at the gardens. It was a nice change of pace, and exactly what I needed.

Where do you go when you need a change of pace?
